How to Choose the Right Steel Workbench
Match the bench size to your garage layout
Measure the clear wall space once your car is parked and the door is open. Choose a steel workbench that can fit in while still leaving comfortable walking space in front, allowing the doors and tool trolleys to move without hitting the bench.
Decide between fixed feet and wheels
A steel workbench with fixed feet suits a permanent working corner where you want maximum stability. If your garage or workshop layout changes quite often, a steel workbench with wheels makes it easier to move the bench and park it safely in place while you work.
Check the loading capacity
Think about the heaviest tools, parts and materials that you will put on the workbench and plus a safety margin. A higher-rated steel workbench allows you to put on more weight without wobbling, even when you are using heavier power tools.
Plan for tools and future add-ons
Place your steel workbench where power points are easy to reach. Remember to leave room above and below the bench for potential pegboards and tool cabinets, so you can upgrade your working area later on.
